What is the NHAI Internship Program? A prestigious internship initiative launched by NHAI. The program provides Civil Engineering students hands-on field exposure in real-world highway development projects across India. Supports experiential learning and industry engagement.
Who is eligible to apply? Full-time undergraduate students currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering program and studying in an AICTE-approved institution.
What is the internship duration and timeline? Duration: 8–9 weeks.
Summer Internship shall commence on 4th May 2026-5th July 2026 (tentatively). Exact duration and end date will be confirmed based on project requirements and academic schedule considerations.
Is this a full-time, on-location internship? You are required to be physically present at your assigned NHAI project site for the entire internship duration. Virtual or remote participation is not available. Full-time commitment is essential.
Will I be paid? Interns will be given a stipend of ₹20,000 per month.
Note: Stipend will be pro-rated based on the actual duration of the internship.
How do I apply?
  1. Visit NHAI Internship Portal and select Student Login
  2. Register with email and create password
  3. Fill online form with personal and educational details
  4. Upload required documents
  5. Select preferences and submit application
What documents do I need to upload? Latest marksheet/grade card, Class 10th & 12th marksheets, Identity proof (college ID), Resume/CV (optional), Passport-sized photograph, Signature. All documents must be clear and legible.
What happens after I submit my application?
  1. Institute verification
  2. NHAI review based on eligibility and merit
  3. Selection results by 23rd April 2026
  4. Onboarding and joining instructions via email
Which are the eligible institutes?

When will I know if I'm selected? Selection results will be announced by 23rd April 2026. Selected students will be informed via email.
What if my college doesn't approve my application? Contact your college placement or faculty coordinator promptly.
Note: Only institute-approved applications will be considered by NHAI.
What will I receive at the end of the internship? Completion certificate issued by NHAI.
Can this internship count towards my academic curriculum? At the discretion of your Institute.
What if I have a conflict with my college schedule? Verify your academic schedule in advance. The internship requires full-time on-location presence; part-time or flexible attendance is not permitted.
What locations/projects are available? Active highway construction projects across PAN India.
Will travel and accommodation be arranged? Students must arrange their own travel and accommodation. NHAI will not reimburse expenses beyond the stipend.
How do I contact support if I have issues? Raise a ticket via the HelpDesk option on the Portal. Typical response time is 24 hours.
